| Purpose: |
| The Ebenezer Baptist Church Scholarship Program was established to serve as the primary recipient of gifts by generous church members and friends, or by their heirs as memorials for their loved ones who wish to leave monies to assist students in their education. The program exists to assist financially those qualified individuals seeking to attend an accredited institution of higher learning. Scholarships are awarded based on need, potential and academic performance. |

| Primary Scholarship Funds : |
The Ebenezer Baptist Church Scholarship Fund serves as the primary recipient of gifts and contributions from members and friends of Ebenezer Baptist Church who wish to leave money to assist students in their education. The Ebenezer Baptist Church Scholarship Program is comprised of five primary funds: |
- Carrie and Isaac Spencer Scholarship
- Algerene and Isaac Craig Scholarship
- Raymond L. Godine, Jr. Scholarship
- Johnny B. Alexander Scholarship
- General Scholarship Contributions

| Special Requirements for the Scholarship Committee : |
The Scholarship Committee of Ebenezer Baptist Church is responsible for all decisions concerned with scholarship awards. Ebenezer Baptist Church may choose not to award a scholarship in any given year.
Some of the specific requirements follow:

| 1) Grant scholarships to qualified applicants from the various scholarship funds. |
| 2) Consider scholarship grants only for those applicants who submit a complete application by April 15 proceeding the fall academic semester for which they are applying. The applicant must submit at least one personal letter of recommendation, which must accompany the application. |
| 3) Base its awards upon these specific scholarship requirements: |
a) Significant church involvement; and
|
b) Consider academic performance and potential.
|
| 4) Make scholarship payments directly to the award recipient upon receipt of enrollment verification from the recipient’s academic institution no later than August 31 in the year the scholarship was awarded. |
| 5) Provide financial support to the scholarship funds through fund raising. |
| 6) Determine methods to invest those funds for best returns. |

| Scholarship Application : |
Students applying for scholarship funds may download and print from the church’s web site the “Scholarship Application” Form or may pick up a copy of the application from the church business office.
Completed forms may be mailed, faxed or emailed back to Ebenezer Baptist Church. Instructions are on the application. Please note the application also contains at least one letter of recommendation.
Applications for scholarships must be completed and all required materials must be submitted by April 15 of the upcoming school year.

| Fundraising: |
| 1. The Scholarship Committee must be notified when contributions are made to the scholarship fund within one week of the contribution. |
| 2. The identification of each donor and the amount of the contribution must be known unless the donor’s request is to remain anonymous. |
| 3. Send the donor an acknowledgment when contributions have been received expressing gratitude unless it is an anonymous donation. |
| 4. Add scholarship donations to the specified fund on a spreadsheet |
| 5. Receipt all funds donated to the scholarship funds as a scholarship contribution and deposit it to the General Operating Account. The Scholarship Committee sends an acknowledgement to the person when appropriate. |

| Administration: |
- Promote the Scholarship Program through church bulletin announcements, church website, and letters to church departments, etc.
- Receive application materials.
- Prepare physical and computerized applicant files.
- Prepare applicant spreadsheet for review.
- Prepare a spreadsheet that documents money amounts received for the different scholarship funds.
- Send notification to all applicants with request for enrollment verification.
- Request checks and distribute awards to the award recipients.
- Hold recognition event for scholarship recipients.
